About us
Who we are, what we hold to, and the people to talk to.
Our story
Grace Street Church began in 1962 as a Sunday school in a storefront on this corner, and we have been a neighborhood church ever since. (Sample history for the template.)
Today we are about the size of a big family reunion on a good Sunday. We sing old hymns and new songs, keep a pantry stocked for our neighbors, and try to be a place where it is easy to ask a hard question.
What we believe
- The church
- The church is a people before it is a building: baptized, fed at one table, and sent to love the neighborhood.
- One God, Father, Son and Spirit
- We worship the God who made everything, who came among us in Jesus, and who stays with us by the Holy Spirit.
- Grace
- Nobody earns their place here. We are forgiven and welcomed because of what God has done, not what we have managed.
- Hope
- We trust that God will set the world right, and we live that way now, in small ways, on ordinary days.
- The Bible
- We read the Bible as the main way God speaks to the church, and we read it together, with questions.
